Kalmia broadleaf "Kaleidoscope" (Kaleidoscope) is a spectacular evergreen shrub known for its star-shaped flowers that bloom in May-June. The bush reaches 100-120 cm in height, has glossy leaves, prefers acidic soils, partial shade and regular watering, showing high frost resistance.
The main characteristics of the "Kaleidoscope" variety:
Appearance: Compact, thick bush, reaching 1.2-1.5 m in height and diameter.
Flowering: Unique, white with a rich pink or burgundy pattern that creates a "kaleidoscopic" effect.
Leaves: Dark green, glossy, elliptic in shape, preserved in winter.
Growing conditions:
Soil: Requires acidic (pH 4-5.5), well-drained and moist soils.
Light: Likes semi-shade, but also tolerates sunny places protected from the wind.
Frost resistance: Withstands frosts down to -34∘C (zone 4), but young seedlings are recommended to be covered for the winter.
Kalmia Kaleidoscope is a great companion for rhododendrons, azaleas and heathers, often used in landscape design to create accent groups.
